Mike and Heather welcome you to The Red Lion. We have been here now for over 25 years running this 16th Century Country Free House, now renamed an Autarkic Free House which means it is a genuinely run Private Free House, where you will be offered a warm welcome, Real Ales (mainly sourced from Local Micro Breweries) and really great Homemade Food from our enthusiastic young Chefs. We pride ourselves in having kept the identity of a Locals Pub that sells food and not a Restaurant that serves Beer, even after our Restaurant Expansion some 4 Years ago.

The Red Lion is very proud to have won the Chiltern Food Pub of the Year 2008, and Camra’s runner up Mid-Chilterns Pub of the Year 2009. We also have entries in the Good Pub and Good Beer guides.

Originally The Red Lion was a coaching inn on one of the main routes out of London towards the West. Chenies is a small village in Buckinghamshire and is only 5 minutes drive from the M25 (view map). Apart from ourselves the village also boasts a famous Manor House (Chenies Manor), a very comfortable hotel and some wonderful routed walks along the River Chess.

Walkers with clean boots are welcome (or leave them at the door).
We are a dog friendly pub (so long as they are clean and well behaved). Please keep them on a lead.
We now have a disabled entrance ramp.
Unfortunately, due to the laws of the land, we are not allowed to accept children under the age of 14, except in our outside seating area when under adult supervision.
There is a car park at the rear and on the road outside.
